Features of BW Max XT II Multi Gas Detector
The Max XT II gas monitor is designed for workers who need a practical detector that can be worn and used throughout a working shift. Its compact housing, one button interface and rechargeable battery keep everyday operation simple, while its four gas capability provides broader atmospheric monitoring than a single gas detector.
Four gases, one detector
The BW GasAlertMax XT II can monitor four atmospheric hazards: H₂S – Hydrogen sulfide CO – Carbon monoxide O₂ – Oxygen LEL – Combustible gases Honeywell specifies the detector as a multi-gas instrument capable of monitoring these four hazards.
Integrated Smart Sample Pump
The integrated motorized pump is one of the main features of the GasAlertMax XT II. The SmartSample system is designed for remote sampling and includes pump blockage detection. Honeywell specifies sampling distances of up to 75 ft / 23 m.
Real-Time Gas Readings
The LCD displays real-time gas concentrations, allowing workers to see the monitored atmosphere directly from the detector.
Audible, Visual and Vibrating Alarms
Simultaneous audible (95 dB), visual and vibrating alerts, with separate low, high, TWA, STEL and over-limit warnings.
Simple one-button operation
The BW Max XT II uses a simple one-button interface. This helps workers operate the detector without a complicated control system or extensive menu navigation.
Datalogging and Event Logging
The Honeywell BW Max XT II includes standard datalogging and event logging. Honeywell specifies datalogging of up to 375 hours at 15-second intervals on its product information.
MicroDock II Compatibility
The detector is fully compatible with the Honeywell MicroDock II automated test and calibration system, supporting automated bump testing and calibration workflows.
IP68 Protection
The Honeywell BW Max XT II has an IP68 ingress protection rating. Honeywell's official datasheet specifies protection for up to 45 minutes at 1.2 m under the stated test conditions.

BW Max XT II vs. Other Honeywell Multi-Gas Options
Honeywell offers more than one version of the BW Max XT II, and it helps to know which one you’re actually looking at:
| Model | Warranty | Weight | Notable Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| BW MicroClip XL | 2 years | 190 g | Standard operation, proven platform |
| BW MicroClip X3 | 3 years | 179 g | Newer O2 sensor, lighter, longer warranty |
Both share the same four-gas monitoring capability, IP68 rating, and 18-hour runtime. The X3 is the newer of the two, with an extra year of coverage and a slightly lighter build worth considering if you’re buying for the long term.
If your site only needs a single gas rather than four, our BW Clip BWC2H (H2S) and BW Clip BWC2-M (CO) disposable detectors are a simpler, lower cost option for personal single hazard monitoring.
Applications
Where This Multi Gas Detector is Used
The Honeywell BW Max XT II can be used in industrial environments where workers may encounter multiple atmospheric hazards.
Oil & Gas
The four-gas configuration can be used for atmospheric monitoring around oil and gas operations where H₂S, combustible gases, oxygen deficiency and carbon monoxide may be relevant hazards.
Engine Rooms and Generator Areas
In engine rooms, generator rooms and equipment areas, gas monitoring can support worker safety where exhaust gases, combustion-related hazards or oxygen changes may need to be monitored.
Industrial Maintenance
Maintenance personnel may use portable multi-gas detectors when working around machinery, process equipment, tanks, vessels, pipelines and other areas where atmospheric conditions can change.
Confined and Restricted Areas
Before and during work in confined or restricted areas, the BW Max XT II can be used to monitor the atmosphere for H₂S, CO, oxygen and combustible gas hazards, subject to the site's gas-monitoring procedure and risk assessment.
Construction & Utilities
The BW Max XT II helps construction and utility teams monitor H₂S, CO, O₂ and combustible gases during work in enclosed, underground and restricted areas.
Industrial Plants
The detector can support gas monitoring for workers involved in inspection, maintenance, shutdowns, commissioning and other field activities.

Why We Stock This
Gas Detection for Engine Maintenance & Industrial Worksites
Gas detection is relevant to many of the industrial environments where engine maintenance takes place, including generator rooms, compressor houses, marine facilities, oil & gas sites and confined-space work areas.
Engine Rooms Are Confined Spaces
Generator rooms, marine engine rooms and compressor houses are classic confined‑space environments. Exhaust leaks and fuel system faults can raise H2S or carbon monoxide (co h2s) levels quickly, which is why a personal h2s monitor is standard PPE before technicians step inside to work on the equipment we supply parts for.
Sour Fuel & Gas Engines
Diesel and gas engines running near oilfield or sour‑gas sites are frequently exposed to hydrogen sulfide in the surrounding fuel or process gas. Maintenance crews changing filters, seals or injectors on this equipment need the same gas sensor protection as process operators nearby.
Generator & Compressor Houses
Many sites install a fixed h2s gas detector or CO sensor directly inside generator and compressor enclosures as part of the site's h2s monitoring system alongside the mechanical parts, filters and consumables we already supply for that same equipment.
Marine & Offshore Engine Rooms
Marine engines, generator sets and auxiliary equipment are commonly installed in enclosed engine rooms. Gas detection can help monitor for CO, H₂S, combustible gases or oxygen deficiency, depending on the vessel, fuel system and operating environment.
Engine Exhaust & Emissions Areas
During engine operation and testing, exhaust systems can release carbon monoxide and other combustion gases. Fixed or portable gas detectors can be positioned appropriately around engine test areas, workshops and enclosed operating spaces to help identify dangerous atmospheric conditions.
Field‑Tested Recommendations
Our team supports industrial customers and engine-maintenance requirements across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman, we can recommend the right single gas detector or multi‑gas unit for your specific engine room layout not just sell a generic catalogue item.
About the Brand
About Honeywell BW Technologies
BW Technologies was founded in 1987 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, by engineer and entrepreneur Cody Slater. Slater encountered the gas-monitoring equipment used in drilling operations and saw an opportunity to develop a more practical solution. He subsequently founded BW Technologies and developed the Rig Rat, a pioneering wireless, solar-powered gas detection system designed for remote drilling locations in Western Canada.
The company subsequently expanded into portable, fixed, and multi-gas detection products. By 2003, BW Technologies had developed multiple gas detection product lines serving industries including oil and gas, mining, and other hazardous environments.
In 2006, Honeywell acquired First Technology, BW Technologies’ parent company, bringing BW into Honeywell’s life-safety and gas-detection business. BW continued its Calgary-based operations and became known as BW Technologies by Honeywell, combining its gas-detection expertise with Honeywell’s broader global resources and distribution capabilities.
Today, Honeywell BW offers a broad range of personal, portable, and area gas-detection solutions. Its product portfolio includes the BW Clip maintenance-free disposable detectors, BW Solo serviceable single-gas detectors, multi-gas instruments such as the MicroClip series, and area-monitoring solutions.
